Key trends in sustainability

7 Dec 2020

Over the last 3 years, we’ve worked on over 50 projects for clients, where the central question has been about or linked to sustainability. Reflecting on these and listening to the conversations around sustainability across all online sources from blogs, diverse brand, news sites and social media posts, we've identified 3 broad themes that impact sustainability objectives and what they mean for brands going forward:

  1. Sustainable Social Worlds. The coupling of social and environmental justice
  2. Everyday Heroics. Making sustainable changes in our daily lives
  3. Intelligent Design. Re-evaluating the methods and materials we use and finding and creating better solutions

As sustainability discourse is now characterised by a tone of urgency, these themes offer a potential solutions that we believe can serve as inspiration to help achieve sustainable goals.

Our analysis for the report was both cross-category and multi-market. We used the discover.ai platform to delve into the broad spectrum of content that characterises contemporary modes of sustainable thought and practice, to pull out the core themes that shape this contextual landscape.
