An exploration of how historical nostalgia serves Gen Z psychologically

Many of us can relate to longing for a simpler, more unplugged time in today’s digitally saturated world. But how does this work – and what purpose does it serve – when a generation feels nostalgic for a time that predates their birth?

Historical nostalgia (that is, nostalgia for a time that predates you) is a fascinating phenomenon, and powerful force for Gen Z.

In collaboration with the Human Flourishing Lab at the Archbridge Institute, our latest research explores how it helps young people shape their identities, spark creativity, and tackle modern challenges by drawing from the past.

Dive into this thought-provoking analysis of a phenomenon shaping the cultural and psychological dynamics of today’s youth.
